English try outs #1

Hey fellows citizens of the world.

Well the reason for the upcoming post to be in english is simple – i need to practice – and a lot!

I´ve got an exam in a few days (TOEFL) so I have got to practice the most I can. The subject of this post will be a simple one – how´s my life going those last months. No big deal about it, but I´ve got to practice, so…BORING!

Well I am a graphic designer student (nothing new in that) for 2 years. Things going pretty well into college, good grades, some amazing teachers and making up some networking – new friends too.

Few months ago, I got a job in a company that worked in the marketing/entertainement area. I was assigned to the “creative design area” which I had few simple tasks to accomplish – Flash animations about any events happening and photos manipulation for their website.

I was no fully functional designer there, although they insisted to call me “designer” all the times. It was funny, because when I said that, people used to ask “So…what do you do?” and eventually I had no answer to that…how was I supposed to explain that they had no need for a designer there? Any regular guy with adobe package knowledge would suffice.

Well months had passed and my contract was over. I chose to end it, instead of renew it for more 6 months. I had no one to teach me stuff there, no graphic designer nor someone in my workfield with enough knowledge to show me how things works into GD.

1 month had passed since then approximately and I´ve got involved into a few projects.

The big one is the reason of this post and the TOELF exam : I need a good score so i can have bigger chances on winning a scholarship to USA universities. The chances are small (only 500 will be selected in Brazil) but I am willing to try anyway. What have I got to lose besides 160 US dollars (TOELF exam fee)?

If I pass and get selected, I´ll be there for an entire year. Studying full time then working in the last 3 months. I don´t have to mention how awesome that would be.

Well that´s it for now dear readers. Now i´ve got to practice some of my pronounce/speech which unfortunately, cannot be done here at my blog.

Godspeed.

=)
